The Outsiders Newspaper Article

You are to write a newspaper article from the perspective of a journalist who is either a Soc or a Greaser. The particular perspective will determine the contents of the article and the slant put on the evidence.

You are to write a newspaper article about ONE of the two following events:

1. Johnny's stabbing of Bob

2. Johnny's and Ponyboy's rescue of the children in the church fire

NOTE: You must refer to specific events from the novel, but do not forget the perspective from which the article is written from. Be sure to adhere to the rules of newspaper article writing. You will find the rules of newspaper articling in the 2 handouts I supplied when we wrote the first article during the reading of the tale, The 51st Dragon.

Your first draft of this must be done for tomorrow's class, and you will type out your final copy tomorrow . At the end of tomorrow's class I will take in your completed article and cover page. Please bring your chapter questions with you to class tomorrow, so you will have something to work on if you finish the article before the end of class.

The Outsiders

We are reading the novel in class, and do chapter work sometimes in class. When students do not finish their work they must finish it at home. If they do not finish it at home they must stay in on the next day we have a late bus run, either Monday or Wednesday.
